Kelly's SteaksKelly's Steaks - Legendary And Traditional

In Long Beach, California Kelly's Steakhouse is considered one of the legendary steakhouses in southern California. With such a successful business, Dave Davies one of the owners, decided to open Kelly's Steakhouse in the former Ruth Chris location, in Las Vegas at 3900 Paradise Road. The traditional design is the same, with leather back chairs and a rich walnut interior, along with various dining areas and a banquet facility for corporate functions. There's also a patio are for weddings. The total seating area accommodates 450 people. Now that is one of the largest areas for dining in the West coast.

Kelly's cut of Prime RibThis called for Tony Wilson, my associate in Vegas to investigate this most popular location. Tony, who is well familiar with the restaurant business, decided to spend an evening of dining there. ''The steaks at Kelly's are super good and the service is impeccable'', states Tony. Tony ordered a Porterhouse steak with Peppercorn and some excellent side dishes, creamed corn in truffle oil, roasted mushrooms, white and green asparagus. This hit the spot for Tony. Although Kelly's in Long Beach is much smaller, seating 75 people, it has been noted for their salads, especially the Throckmorton Salad, their signature salad, which consists of blufort dressing, mixed with strands of romaine lettuce, chopped red onions, and Gruyere cheese. I've had this salad and it's delicious. I especially love their lobster bisque, Kelly's Stuffed Pork Chopswhere the lobster is served in a bowl, with the soup poured on top. I also recommend their roasted mushroom's, which are flash cooked in lemon and spices. The same menu applies in Las Vegas at Kelly's.

According to Tony Wilson, the service at Kelly's Steakhouse is excellent. The waiters, Dan Kovac and Roberto Estrada, attended to Tony's every wish. Both gentlemen were the original waiters at Ruth Chris.

Kelly's Lamb ChopsThe staff at Kelly's believe in personalized service. Jay Solimine, the general manager, family owns restaurants back east and Tom Lacloche, the assistant manager has build his own restaurants. Both gentlemen run a smooth operation. Lisa Martin, who specializes in public relations, is the marketing and sales manager. I met Lisa 6 years ago, when I celebrated my birthday, with Joe Jackson and Frankie Scinta as my guest. At that time, the cuisine was delicious and the facilities which were excellent, are just as elegant today. With that said, Tony Wilson complimented Robert Banghart, the Executive Chef at Kelly's Steakhouse, and a 12 year veteran of specializing in classical cuisine. He also complimented their beautiful hostess Pizza Abrera. For those who want something different, other suggestions at both restaurants would include stuffed pork chops with spinach cheese stuffing and herbs. This is a wonderful Kelly's Ahi Tunapresentation. As for the deserts, there all home made. Apple Strudel which consist of caramelized apples wrapped in fello dough, with warm vanilla ice cream and powdered sugar, is a favorite. Other goodies available are, Flowerless cheesecake, Godiva cake, Cream Brulee and Sorbet.

Kelly's Steakhouse serves lunch from 11-4pm Monday through Friday and dinner from 4pm until 10pm , Monday through Sunday.
